Stainless Steel Kitchen Faucets
July 4th, 2009 by Chris

Stainless steel kitchen faucets have become one of the most sought after kitchen plumbing fixtures for the modern kitchen.  Thirty years ago the faucets were thought of as a necessary eyesore and were hidden in dark corners.  Today they have become quite stylish and often the center of attention for a modern kitchen.  Recent improvements to the kitchen faucet have transformed this hidden utility into an eye-catching show piece.  Several styles of kitchen faucets have a useful brush or spray attachment the make washing the dinner pans, a little less tiresome.  There are so many unique designs for the kitchen faucet, that it has become fun, rather then a chore when designing this home project.

There is a vast selection of kitchen faucets available to today’s consumer and selecting the perfect one for your kitchen may seem like a difficult task.  And since honest kitchen faucet reviews are few and far between, follow these guidelines and you will have little trouble in selecting the perfect center piece to your kitchen sink.

The first thing you will need to do is establish a style for your kitchen.  This is where the majority of people go wrong in their selection process.  Stainless steel kitchen faucets might look wonderful in on the showroom floor with black granite counter-tops and a modern theme.  But take that same faucet and force it into a 1870 colonial kitchen and you suddenly have an eyesore on your hands.  Unless you’re redoing the entire kitchen, keep the original style or a small variation.

The next step is to decide on the type of handle you will prefer.  The common handles are single handed, dual handed and the basic "cross-shaped" design.  If your sink is quite large the many people prefer a two handle design.  Modern kitchen faucets are often a cross designed.  The cross design is very functional and often give a kitchen a unique look when paired with an unusual or stylish handle.

The next step is to decide on a finish.  Some of the most popular finished are stainless steel, nickel, chrome, copper, antique as well as oil rubbed bronze kitchen faucets are available.  Chrome is the most economical finish while copper tends to be the most extravagant.  Chrome and stainless steel offer excellent scratch resistance while the bronze and copper finishes are often the most ornamental.  Colored enamel was often used to produce kitchen faucets, but since they were easily chipped, discolored and scratched consumers have shied away from this option.

The last thing you need to be concerned with is the "nuts and bolts" of your kitchen faucet.  Make sure you know the difference in a cartridge, ceramic disk, ball valve and compression valve, and single hole kitchen faucets.  Make sure you are getting the operation and water flow you want.  What works in one kitchen may not work in yours.  Style might be the number one factor when determining your next kitchen faucet, but substance should never be disregarded.

These are just a few tips to keep in mind when selecting your next kitchen's center piece.  Whether you’re looking thorough stainless steel kitchen faucets for a new design or shopping and inexpensive chrome replacement follow these tips and your next faucet will be best kitchen faucet.
